[Review] Svensson Classic Low – White by Dion

It’s been a long time since I posted a review and this time, I have decided to post a review on Svensson Classic Low – White sneakers!

Introduction

It is a very classic pair of Italy white leather sneaker that many say is comparable with Common Project in terms of the quality of leather as well as its design. 

Price

It is priced at 1457 SEK at this time of writing, which tentamounts to SGD238.

Material

The upper is made of leather as mentioned earlier, and its sole is made of rubber.

Description

The tongue is pretty thick, unlike other white classic sneaker like Stan Smith which has very thin tongue.

The mouth of the shoe is surrounded by moderately thick leather, so that you will not experience blisters on the back of your feet after a day of walking. I experienced no problems at all trying to break into this pair of sneakers and in fact, I would say that no break in is required at all because comfort was the first word that come to my mind the moment I put on this pair of classic sneaker.

The in-sole of the shoe is very comfortable, with more cushioning than an average pair of sneaker would have in their in-sole. On it is also a very striking gold word which writes “Svensson” and “Overmycket SJAL” under the brand name.

The sole of the shoe is a white rubber, which is very obvious to scuff marks as well as black marks when you wear it out onto the streets, but fret not because the black marks are very easy to clean off.

Sizing 

Size wise, this shoe runs really huge. I bought a size 40, which is my exact size,

but I ended up having to put  toe inserts (which I ordered separately) because it was a full size bigger, so remember to down a size when getting this shoe. Unfortunately for me, 40 was the smallest size so I have to live with toe inserts for as long as this shoe would last me.

Durability

I have only worn this pair of sneaker for about 2 to 3 times even though I have gotten this for 2 months at this point as I am writing this. I personally dislike people stepping on my shoe and this is a pair of white leather, which makes me want to wear this less often. But for the few times I have worn this out, its comfort is amazing. Durability wise, I can see a little crease starting to form on the shoe but it is nothing to worry about because this is very normal in every pair of leather shoe. Scuff marks can be seen on the side of the sole as well as on the side of the upper but all I have to do is take a damp cloth and rub it a little and the scuff marks are gone. Simple as that.

Maintenance

Maintenance wise, it is a very good idea to invest in a leather conditioner to put onto the upper of this pair of sneaker but only every once in awhile. This will prolong the already long life span of this shoe. I foresee this pair of sneaker being able to last me for about 2 to 3 years, depending on how much I abuse it. 

Conclusion

It is, in my opinion, one of the best white sneaker that anyone can invest in. No doubt it is on the pricier side of the scale, I think this is a very worthwhile investment because this shoe is going to last for very long if taken care of. This is also the best substitute for Common Project at a much lower price than anyone can find out in the market. If it's affordable, I would recommend you to get a pair to work into your rotation.
